Hey there, welcome back! Today, I'm going to be talking about one of the prettiest spots in Northern California: Lake Tahoe. It is a 3 to 4 hour drive from San Francisco, depending on the traffic, which makes it a wonderful spot for a quick side trip if you are visiting the Bay Area. From picturesque lake views to mountains perfect for winter skiing, Tahoe is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Since I'm definitely a summer girl, I don't think I'm qualified to talk about winter things - thus, this post will be about some warm-weather Tahoe activities! Tahoe is colloquially divided into North and South Lake Tahoe, but there are some wonderful places to visit in between as well. North Lake Tahoe One of the most magical things to do near North Lake Tahoe in my opinion is bike on the brand new Tahoe East Shore Trail. It's about 3 miles long and goes from Tunnel Creek Café in Incline Village to Sand Harbor, a gorgeous Nevada beach. Note that Sand Harbor has a small entrance fee, but that is only to enter the beach - you can turn around and ride back for free. My family brought our bikes and then parked along the street. You can walk, run, or bike the path. My sister and I always like to do ropes courses and ziplines when we're in the mountains, and Tahoe has some really fun ones. This past year, we did Treetop Adventures' Tahoe Vista Course, which is located within the 125-acre North Lake Tahoe Regional Park. The park has opportunities for beginners, intermediate climbers, and ropes course experts. I liked this park in particular because you are given about 2.5 hours to explore on your own: there are people there to ensure your safety, of course, but you can decide which courses you want to go on, when you want to go on them, and if you want to repeat one several times. Click here for booking information. South Lake Tahoe Emerald Bay State Park is about 10 miles from South Lake Tahoe, and it provides some stunning views of the lake. You can hike it, or you can simply drive up. Either way, you'll be taken aback by the juxtaposition of the clear blue waters of Lake Tahoe and the deep green pine trees. You can also visit some of the other Tahoe resorts for some fun, relaxing activities. Heavenly Mountain Resort and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort are two popular ones. At Heavenly, you can ride the iconic gondola up the mountains for a panoramic view of Tahoe. While my family has never done this, I think that the pictures I've seen speak for themselves! South Lake Tahoe also has some pretty beaches. One of my favorites is El Dorado Beach. It can be touristy, but the water is crystal clear, and it's a very special place to be at sunset! Here's to a 2020 full of love, laughter, relaxation, productivity, and growth - and of course, more traveling! :)
